Holy Crap!

I read yet another book today. Art Spiegelman's Maus: A Survior's Tale: My Father Bleeds History. Technically a Graphic Novel, but still a book and The Jess has given the "O.K." on the wonders of graphic novels for my books challenge.

I returned 3 books to the library this afternoon and came back with just this book. I'd been thinking about reading if for some time, but something just held me back from doing so. There was something both appealing and un-appealing about Jewish Mice running from Nazi Cats. I sometimes can't stand reading tales that are about the worlds darkest and most sinister moments, but I am glad I picked this one up. I should have been sleeping, but I couldn't put it down. I finished it in about and hour. The Story is charming, gut wrenching, and beautiful in the most tragic of ways. I would very much like to purchase my own copy of this book and perhaps the sequel. I am unsure as to how many there are, but I would like to have them all.

This story has made me want to pick up The Book Thief by Markus Zusak again. This book is about a girl living in Nazi-Germany. She escapes the harsh reality of life by learning to read. Since money is tight and they barely have the food to eat they cannot afford books. She finds them here and there. The entire story is told by the point of view of Death. I have yet to finish this book because of time restrictions, but I think I will try again here in the near future.

Here's the updated list. Again.
